Lírica
Big Band
A night of swing
The Lírica Big Band brings us a night dedicated to swing — a declaration of love to jazz in large orchestra format, with original arrangements and the complicity of professional Valencian musicians.
The ensemble has managed to bring together professional musicians of different backgrounds, united by a single concern: to contribute to the development of jazz in our community through one of its most characteristic formations, the big band.
A brass section with 5 saxophones, 4 trombones and 5 trumpets, plus a rhythm section with guitar, piano, electric bass and drums, make up this ensemble that combines the jazz tradition with Valencian sonorities.
The repertoire draws on their two published albums — Figa de Ferro and Sapomorfo — which have featured collaborations with reference Valencian composers such as Perico Sambeat, Voro García, Ramon Cardo, Jesús Santandreu and Clara Juan.

To contribute to the development of jazz in our community through one of its most characteristic formations.— The founding spirit of the Lírica Big Band
Lírica Big Band
A Valencian jazz ensemble born in 2017 at the initiative of its conductor, Kako Rubio, within the Agrupació Musical La Lírica de Silla, after its 150th anniversary.
The demand of the musicians themselves and the disposition of the conductor — with experience and studies in the specialty of Jazz — converged in the creation of a new Big Band composed of 18 musician members of the Agrupació Musical La Lírica de Silla.
From its creation in January 2017 to the present, Lírica Big Band has been present at the main jazz festivals of the Comunitat Valenciana: it has inaugurated the I Festival Jazz Ciutat de Silla, brilliantly closed the concerts of the International Band Music Pre-Competition of Valencia and actively participated in the concert exchange programs of the Generalitat Valenciana.
In July 2024 they performed within the framework of the 27th Valencia Jazz Festival, filling the Maestro Rodrigo Hall of the Palau de la Música.
Since the summer of 2024, Lírica Big Band has split from the Agrupació Musical La Lírica de Silla to begin its journey as an independent entity. This step means abandoning the elliptical “Big Band of the Agrupació Musical La Lírica de Silla” and adopting the name “Lírica Big Band”, which grants greater autonomy to develop its projects and broaden its artistic horizons.
